Resources for Your Code Break 2.0

Below you will find everything you need to help you get started with your activity, including step-by-step app instructions, the activity challenge list, and FAQs.

Important Details:

Activity Access Details: Your confirmation email will include details for your individual activity access.

Event Logistics: You as the organizer, are responsible for arranging the meeting location (in-person, or virtual meeting platform of your choice).

About Your Activity:

Participants will break out into teams and use Outback’s web application platform to participate in the Code Break activity. With engaging puzzles, riddles, and trivia challenges, you and your team will have the chance to bond together, use creative problem solving skills, and have fun as a group as you work together to solve challenges.

The team that racks up the most points by correctly completing challenges will take home the victory! They’ll work through a variety of puzzles, riddles, and trivia challenges earning points along the way. Points will be awarded with each correct answer, teams will need to be specific and check their answers with their team before submitting. You will want to prepare teams to have a pen and paper handy.

The activity challenge list is available at the bottom of this page under the resources section.

Prior to Your Activity:

  • Decide your meeting location. Will it be in person or virtual? Considerations when planning your event:
    • For Virtual events you will meet in a virtual meeting room. The team leader will log into Outback’s Web Application on their laptop/computer, share their screen with the other members of their team, and complete challenges on behalf of their team.
    • For In-Person events team leader will log into Outback’s Web Application preferably on their laptop and complete challenges on behalf of their team. The organizer needs to share the challenge list with participants so they can follow along with the team leader. This can be shared via printed copy or link.

  • Organize your participants into teams. Each team should have between 2-6 people and roughly the same number of people on each team. Small groups could play on one team if preferred.

  • Assign a team leader to each team. The team leader will be the only person signing into the app and submitting challenges on behalf of their team.

  • Communicate event details to your group. Ensure that all participants are aware of meeting location & start time.

Starting Your Activity:

  • Assemble participants in meeting location. Ensure all participants are in meeting area and have access to strong WiFi before starting the activity.

  • Introduce yourself & welcome group. You can use the “Sample Group Intro” in the resources section at the bottom of the page if you’d like. Explain what the activity is, how participants can access challenges and complete them, and the objective of the activity.

  • Instruct team leaders on how to sign into the application. Provide them with sign in details found in your confirmation email. A computer/laptop is the recommended device for this activity. Only team leaders require access to the application.

  • Provide your group with the guidelines for what time the activity will conclude and where they will be meeting. Also provide them with your contact information in case they need to reach out with any questions.

  • Have participants break out into teams and start the activity. Let teams know that they can start completing challenges!

During Your Activity:

As the organizer, your role during the activity is as follows:

  • Provide support for teams if they have any questions
  • Provide resources again if requested
  • OPTIONAL: visit teams throughout activity (may help to give insight into any highlights at the end of activity)
  • Review leaderboard & gauge teams’ progress
  • Manage time (IE: 15-minute warning before wrapping up)

App instructions can be found in the resources section at the bottom of this page.

Concluding Your Activity:

  • Ensure you have a strong Wi-Fi/data signal so the submitted challenges have a chance to finish loading into the app.
  • Open your Leaderboard to see the final scores for each team.

That’s it – you’re done! You can keep the event going by allowing the group to socialize afterward and discuss the Code Break.
