Resources for Your Wild Goose Chase

Below you will find everything you need to help you get started with your activity, including your step-by-step app instructions, challenge list, and FAQs.

ACTIVITY & PHONE REQUIREMENTS

Your Activity:

To get started on the day of the activity, one person from each team will need to download the free Outback Team Building app onto their smartphone. Once signed into the app, provide your teams with the Entry Code provided to you in your welcome email. Remember not to give this information out prior to your activity day!

Challenges can be completed in any order and are worth different point values, so teams will need to strategize to complete as many as possible within the time limit you have given. Some challenges may have teams creating items – these challenges are meant to push teams to be creative in the materials that they use but you may want to provide teams with some pens and paper.

Each team’s score will appear on the Leaderboard, and pictures and videos they submit will appear on the Submissions page. You can view the action as it occurs either on your phone, or by using the links provided in your welcome email.

Phone Requirements:

  • One fully-charged iPhone or Android device with a data plan or Wi-Fi connection per team
  • One back-up device per team
  • Minimum operating system: Apple iOS 9.0 or Android OS v5.0
  • Recommended available memory: at least 400 MB
  • Team leaders must log into their Apple App Store or Google Play Store account to download the free app
  • Google Pixel devices currently do not support all the functions of our application

Note: We recommend closing all other applications and turning Bluetooth off to help save battery life during the activity.

STARTING YOUR ACTIVITY

Allow around 15 minutes at the start of the activity to brief your group.

  1. Organize into teams based on the size of your entire group. Each team should have between 2-6 people, with about the same number of people on each team. Assign a team leader to each team.
  2. Ensure you are in an area with good Wi-Fi/data and have each team leader download, and sign into the app, using their own unique email. You can walk participants through it step-by-step as a group, or give each team a printed copy of the App Instructions.
  3. Once everyone has signed into the app and you are ready to begin, provide the group with the Activity Name and Entry Code that were provided in your welcome email. Only give away this information when you’re ready to start.

To track the progress of the activity and your teams, use the Leaderboard and Submissions links provided to you in your confirmation email. Or, if you are using your phone, you can track the progress through the Leaderboard and Submissions tabs found on the activity’s main menu.

CONCLUDING YOUR ACTIVITY

Have your teams meet at a designated time and/or location to ensure they are no longer submitting challenges. This is a key step, as your app will not automatically shut off at the end of your event.

  1. Ensure you end in a location with good Wi-Fi/data signal so the submitted challenges have a chance to finish loading into the app.
    • We suggest giving the app about five minutes to completely download all submissions
  2. Refresh your Leaderboard to see the final scores for each team.
    • If using the link found in your introductory email, click the refresh button on the web browser
    • If using your phone, drag the screen down to refresh
  3. Meeting in a location with a computer and projector? Present your teams photos and videos by using the Slideshow link and entry code provided in your email
  4. Download your media by following the Media Download Instructions, and enjoy the hilarious challenge videos and photos submitted by your group.
